If you look at your life, some of us do the same things everyday. We mind our own business. What’s the point to look at someone and say hi? Why would you bother to say your shirt is pretty to a complete stranger?
One of my favorite songs is “Give Me Your Eyes” by Brandon Heath. I love that song. It mainly expresses my prayer every morning to God.
The chorus says:
“Give me your eyes for just one second. Give me your eyes so I can see, everything that I keep missing, give me your love for humanity. Give me your arms for the broken hearted, the ones who are far beyond my reach. Give me your heart for the ones forgotten, give me your eyes so I can see.”
Don’t you think that this should be our daily prayer? We don’t know what other people our going through or what the devil is throwing at them.
If we had God’s eyes, we could see what the people around us are going through and what we could do to help them. But having God’s eyes isn’t something that comes naturally. It requires us spending time with God, reading His Word, praying, confessing our sin and knowing His heart.
And there’s no better way to develop our relationship than through obedience. This is when we exercise our faith and depend on God. And it’s when we are most likely to hear His voice.
Sometimes having God’s eyes begins with a smile. Kindness can open doors to spread God’s love.
How can you make a difference today?
